The Myer’s Furniture building is for sale, centrally located, and too good to pass up, so we are fundraising, in the hopes of purchasing it! We are dreaming of a permanent visible art and cultural hub in the Old North End, a place where people can go in the evenings, to hang out, meet each other, and be creative together. The art center will house affordable artist studios, a children’s learning space, an adult classroom space, an artist residency, where artists from out of town can come stay and do a project with the neighborhood, a community art gallery, and so much more! This will be a meeting place, a place where people can teach classes and learn, and a place where income does not prevent people from being able to make art.

We need to raise $125,000 and then this community hub will happen in the Old North End of Burlington, VT, a neighborhood that desperately needs it! We know that sounds like a lot of money, but we believe in the power of our community, and we are going to do everything we can to make this happen. We are launching this fund raiser, in the hopes of raising as much as we possibly can. The money will help up with the downpayment, fit up costs, as well as scholarships for low income students.

We are seeking to move quickly. The seller is hoping to have the sale settled within a month. We are also seeking investors, and applying for bank loans.
